John McEnroe: Nick Kyrgios is the Most Talented Player in the Last 10 Years

Tennis - American legend John McEnroe says temperamental Australian Nick Kyrgios is the most talented tennis player that he has seen in the last ten years. In an interview with Channel 9, McEnroe speaks about various topics including his passion for art, his tennis academy and his job as a commentator. The 59-year-old McEnroe also revealed that he would be back in the commentary box for the Australian Open in January.

When asked about his on-court tantrums, McEnroe says “I’m sure that I’m one of the all-time greats at that. I thought that’s the way people normally talk!” In his opinion about the recent outburst by Serena Williams during the US Open final, McEnroe says, “I didn't think it was that extraordinary, but I've done worse myself."

Speaking about the all-time greats of the game, McEnroe says he considers Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams amongst the world's best and hopes that he still figures in the list of Top 10 players of all-time. McEnroe won 17 Grand Slam titles during his career - seven of them in singles, nine in doubles and one in mixed doubles. He was also ranked No. 1 in both formats of the game and was a part of the Davis Cup winning team for the United States five times in his career.
