Ferrero: 'Technology influences younger players. They are less focused'

Juan Carlos Ferrero believes that a big factor on the Big 3 dominance is being played by the younger generation's inability to breakthrough. Ferrero thinks that technology did not benefit the Next Gen. "You have to give credit to Novak, Rafa and Roger. But now players use the mobile phone which means unlimited access to many things. This is in some ways good but in others bad. Before you used to be professional and most of the time think of tennis, watching tennis, playing tennis... Now the kids are less focused, they never get bored because they are connected to the world for 24 hours a day", Ferrero told Tennis World USA in an exclusive interview.
What's worse in tennis than in the past? "Technique and tactics did not change a lot since 2000 but it is true that before there were many more specialists on clay. This has been missing in the last years."
On the new Davis Cup format, Ferrero added: "I think the Davis Cup needed a change. It may be too fast and dramatical than expected. Only the time will tell if its good or not. What is impossible to deny is that playing at home defending your country was indescribable."
