2019 ATP Doha - Prize Money: Novak Djokovic seeks lucrative cheque

The 2019 Qatar Exxon Mobil Open of Doha features the highest prize money out of all the ATP 250s, with a $1.3 million total financial commitment. The winner takes a stunning $219,755, which is quite unusual for such a tournament category. The finalist will earn $118,000, while $64,000 will be awarded to each semifinalist. Reaching the quarter-finals guarantees you $36,000, while playing the second and first round is respectively $20,000 and $12,000 worth.

Novak Djokovic leads the field, the Serbian player will start his run against Damir Dzumzhur in the attempt to win his third title there after 2016 and 2017 successes. In those years, Djokovic respectively defeated Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in the championship clashes. In 2018 he withdrew at last minute due to an elbow injury. Dominic Thiem, David Goffin, Tomas Berdych and Stan Wawrinka will play as well, while Andrey Rublev is the defending finalist. Last year the Russian lost to Gael Monfils, who won't defend his title.

In press conference Wawrinka commented on his win over Karen Khachanov: 'Today was a great match, a great level after more than a year out. I think, as I said before the tournament, I was happy with the off-season I did. I worked long and really hard, hard enough to know that sooner or later it will pay off. I'm feeling good physically. Tennis-wise also. Today is the first match of a year against an in-form player, who won Paris last year, already played three match already this year, so I'm happy with the way I was playing today, so I'm looking forward for tomorrow.'
