Andy Murray will remain outspoken, says Nicole Gibbs

In an interview to the New York Times, the 25-year-old American player Nicole Gibbs commented on possible Andy Murray's retirement from tennis. Gibbs said: “I’m really bummed for him, individually, but I’m also bummed for women’s tennis because we just lost a huge spokesperson. Not that he’ll be silent in his retirement — I think he’ll remain really outspoken, and we’ll appreciate that. But it’s nice to see a friendly male tennis player faces throughout the year, so that will be sorely missed for us."

Also Andrea Petkovic praised Murray's support for the WTA Tour: "He was always my favourite, and I think it will be a huge loss for tennis in general, but also for the WTA. Because even nowadays, when you think everything is equal, you still need men, especially successful men, to speak up for women.”

On Murray's retirement, Bob Bryan wrote: "We’ll all forever remember the mark he left on our sport...but I’ll also never forget the afternoon he carved out of his busy training schedule to help raise money for our kids foundation. This guy has a heart of gold and will always be a legend in tennis and life."
