Serena Williams ends the debate:'Roger Federer is the greatest of all time'
In an on-court interview at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Serena Williams dropped the ultimate praise speaking of Roger Federer. Despite losing the mixed doubles match against the Swiss, Williams was in a good mood and she said: 'The guy is great. He’s the greatest of all time, to be honest. Both on the court and off the court, he has such charisma. His serve is super underestimated, he has a killer serve. You can’t read it. There’s a reason he’s the greatest. I watch him all the time but I never knew how great he was!'
Federer also appreciated facing Serena: ‘It was great fun. Serena, what a pleasure, what an honour. Thank you for making this match possible! Great champion, you can see how determined and focused she is – I love that about her. People talk about her serve so much and I see why it’s such a wonderful serve – you just can’t read it.’
The Swiss finally praised Frances Tiafoe who he faced both in singles and doubles: 'I like the energy he [Tiafoe] has, he’s a really positive guy off the court as well. I played another good match. A great start to the season for me. I’m very pleased and couldn’t be happier right now.'
Federer will continue his run in Perth facing Stefanos Tsitsipas.
