Serena Williams: Working parents inspire me
In a Facebook post, Serena Williams commented on how being a working parent inspires her to do even better. On December 31, in Perth, Serena wrote: 'As I head into next year it’s not about what we can do it’s what we MUST do as working moms and working dads. Anything is possible. I am getting ready for the first match of the year and my dear sweet baby Olympia was tired and sad and simply needed mama’s love. So if it means warming up and stretching while holding my baby that’s what #thismama will do. My fellow moms and dads working- or stay home it’s equally as intense- but you inspire me. Hearing your stories makes me know I can do this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This year is to you! What are some things you had to do while working?'
Meanwhile, Daria Gavrilova's coach Philippe Dehaes commented on how players feel in a women's tour that does not feature really dominant players: 'I mean (the pressure) it's here, it's there, yeah, it doesn't change anything, but it's more excited for all those girls. They know that it's possible. People have to accept this and not watching this like oh, we miss the time when Serena -- okay. She's still winning a lot. But you know what I mean. No, now it's this new generation and I hope that the people will enjoy to see those girls, because they are great, all of them, very exciting to watch. Different kind of style, and it's a race, and when you start the race, tough to say who will finish, and that's for me very excited.'
