Rafael Nadal comes second in Balearic Islands Golf Championship

The world no. 2 Rafael Nadal came second in the Balearic Islands Golf Championship for over-30 players that took place this past weekend at the Vall D'0r Golf Club. Nadal, representing the Son Servera golf club, ended with 70 shots (-1) after the first day, but he then gave up the lead to Federico Páez and came second with 150 strokes. Miguel Angel Nadal, former football star and the tennis player's uncle, ended 15th. Nadal is a passionate golfer and has a 1.5 handicap, which is enough to turn professional. He has competed in several golf championships and last year came fifth in the Amateur Championship in the Balearic Islands. He also promotes annually the charity golf event in Son Servera along with golfer José MarÃa Olazábal.
Paez, who won the championship, was impressed by the 17-time Grand Slam winner. He said that he did not feel pressure in facing him. Rafa started the second day with two birdies in the first three holes. Paez added that Nadal played golf very well, was very methodical and capable. Adding that Nadal had a great swing, Paez shared that it could be helped because of tennis. Paez also shared Nadal had good co-ordination, he was able to move the ball the way he wanted and that not many pros had such a control. Some people stopped their cars to greet Rafa and say hi to him. But due to his competitive instinct, Rafa was very educated and lovely, Paez recollected.
