Alejandro Falla: 'Roger Federer is the best ever,he keeps breaking records'
One of the 100 career-titles for Roger Federer came in 2014 Halle beating Alejandro Falla in a close final. The Swiss prevailed in straight sets, 7-6 7-6, to win the grass-court tournament.
In an interview to El Colombiano, Falla recalled the match as he said: "It was great a huge honour, not only playing this final and against the best in the world, but also the many times we did in the other tournaments. The experience was an unbelievable one because it's one of the most complicated tournaments, a draw where there were the greatest ones like Rafa Nadal, Federer, Tomas Berdych, Milos Raonic, among the others, players who on grass have always been among the favorites to win in any place. Coming to that stage was great. It marked my best moment in career, without a doubt. And the reasons are obvious: for facing Roger, for being a final in an ATP tournament that Federer had won six times and because I always rememeber that I had chances to win."
Falla lost all the eight times he faced Federer, including in the 2010 Wimbledon first round where he was up two sets to love and a break up in the third. Falla loves Federer as a person: "He is a great guy, he always behaved in an unbelievable way the day before the match when we had a dinner and on the match day during the prize ceremony where he had a great speech. We enjoyed speaking about the match, we were asked questions and he always treated me in a nice, very lovely way. He is a very loved person. I enjoyed that match a lot, I always look back at the best memories and to be able to play against who I think is the best in history who keeps breaking records."
