Dominic Thiem upset Roger Federer in an amazing three-set final at the BNP Paribas Open. The Austrian player prevailed 6-3 3-6 7-5 after two hours and five minutes to win his 12th career-title, the third outside clay after 2016 Stuttgart on grass and Acapulco on hard. Both played a stunning match, with Federer going up 4-3 0-30 on Thiem's serve on the third set but Dominic fought back and he eventually broke the Swiss to win his maiden Masters 1000 title. Last year Federer had lost the Indian Wells final as well, to Juan Martin del Potro wasting three match points.
