'Mothers Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams have been good examples' - Azarenka

Victoria Azarenka believes that now being a mother and a tennis player is possible. The Belarusian tries to travel around the world with her two-year-old son Leo as most as possible. In an interview to ABC, Azarenka said: "This situation is changing little by little. You have good examples, important people like Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams and her comeback, myself... The perspective will change. We are just trying to do it in the best way, and we have to be an example. A lot of top players want to be mothers. And I am convinced that over the next ten years there will be a huge difference. A very good era is coming."

"Being a woman is not easy, and it will come a time where I have to choose between one thing and the other. We will improve and I have to continue in this way. It's about finding balance, the value to fight for the things, learning from the examples we have... I do not want to say that being a mother is bad, you should not understand this way. What I say is that being a mother and being in the elite is difficult. You get helped as motherhood rules changed in tennis. We are making steps, but we have to keep going. When a woman wants to make a family and continue with the trajectory, you should get things easier. The motherhood sometimes tires you, you need to work and having the support of the system helps you."

Azarenka faced Serena in the Indian Wells second round losing 6-3 7-5. The 29-year-old will play the Miami Open next
