Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic inspire players for longevity - Gilbert

Former Andre Agassi's coach and ESPN analyst Brad Gilbert commented on players' longevity. Gilbert thinks that Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka have been an inspiration for others. “Probably the belief of seeing it, seeing what Roger is doing and he’s six years older than Novak. Seeing what Rafa’s doing, seeing what Stan’s doing. It used to be way back in the day that you turn a corner at 30, in the ‘80s and ‘90s, and it’s like, ‘Ah oh, time is near.’ Not anymore", said Gilbert.

The BNP Paribas Open Tournament Director Tommy Haas thinks that not only the players but also the events on the tour got professionals: “When the tournaments all around the world, including this one, have gotten so very good, and you’re a tennis professional, why would you want to stop when you’re still on top, you’re still making good money and you’re still enjoying it? What other job is going to come around that sounds better? There’s a lot of good reasons to stay in the game.”

John Isner confirmed players are getting as professionals as ever: “There have just been advancements in training and diet. And everyone’s just very, very professional in taking care of themselves, and that’s why you’re seeing guys play very well into their 30s.”
