Roger Federer's French Open appearance not related to Rolex - Forget

Rolex will be the French Open watchkeeper this year, just when Roger Federer will make his comeback to the event for the first time since 2015. Asked if there was any connection between Rolex and Federer's appearance, the Tournament Director Guy Forget, speaking to GQ, said: "I would like it to be that easy! I am in the Bercy tournament and Roger did not come twice. Despite all their strength, they do not decide. Arnaud Boetsch, a friend of mine, is the Director of Communication and Images of Rolex. He can say, Hey Roger, it would be nice if you come to Paris this year! And Roger will say, I will think about it, or, We will see. And that's all. The French Open is such a big tournament that players want to play there. If you ask Roger the most meaningful win in his career, the 2009 one needs to be well placed."

On how he will try to deal with the schedule as (Rafael) Nadal, Federer and (Novak) Djokovic are on the draw for the first time since 2015, Forget added: "The schedule is one of the hottest topics every day in the tournament. It's a puzzle, yes. We meet in six or seven people from two to three times a day to speak about the schedules of the next days. The weather, the guys who play singles and doubles, the televisions that make requests, for example to put Kei Nishikori in the early hours of the morning to make audience in Japan. There are also Nadal or Djokovic who prefer to play in a certain time on a certain court. Players make suggestions. We do not run the risk of starting a men's match too late. But next year we will be able to schedule Nadal as a fourth match because we will have the lights until 10:30 or 11:00 PM. The night session is for 2021."
