Kei Nishikori's Olympics preparation to include doubles at ATP events
Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori will play doubles at some ATP events as part of his preparation for the Tokyo Olympics, per jiji.com.
However, world No. 7 Nishikori's main priority remains to achieve a good result in the Olympics singles event.
The Japanese is planning to play the singles and men's doubles event at the Tokyo Olympics next year.
The 29-year-old has already revealed that Ben McLachlan will be his doubles partner at the Olympics.
Also, Nishikori may play the mixed doubles with 2018 US Open champion Naomi Osaka.
Nishikori has played doubles four times so far this season with four different partners.
Nishikori and fellow compatriot Yoshihito Nishioka suffered a first round doubles loss in Brisbane in the opening week of the season.
Nishikori then lost his opener in Indian Wells with Maximo Gonzalez, before he also picked up a first round defeat with Diego Schwartzman in Barcelona.
Nishikori picked up his first doubles win of the season at the Madrid Masters with Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro.
Nishikori and del Potro beat Fognini and Lindstedt in the first round before they lost to Jamie Murray And Bruno Soares in their following match.
