Nicolas Almagro shares secret behind Rafael Nadal's French Open success
In an interview, the former world No. 10 Nicolas Almagro commented on the secret behind Rafael Nadal's 12 French Open titles. Almagro said: "Paris has all the perfect conditions for Rafa. You play on a very big court, in five sets, and you have to play for three or four hours. He knows that despite things do not go well, he always finds a way to go through."
In 2008, when he won just three games against Nadal in the quarter-finals, Almagro said that the Mallorcan would have kept winning the French Open until 65. "It was a joke", said the Murcia native reflecting on that quote. "I did not know how to face him, how to play aggressive, how to hurt him, it was one of the years where he played better and from the quarter-finals to the final we did not win more than three games per set."
Meanwhile speaking to Cope, David Ferrer commented on how difficult can be for a player to deal with losses: "There are moments where you hate it, it's part of the tour. I was very lucky, I lived unbelievable things but I have played many matches taking painkillers."
Meanwhile, Nadal is set to buy a new 80 Sunreef Power catamaran, which will be built within 2020. "As someone from an island as I am, the sea is part of our lives and it’s not a secret that I love the sea. Every time I am at home in Mallorca I try to go out and find that time where I can just enjoy my time on a boat. I am very happy to be on board of this Sunreef Yachts family and would like to thanks Mr Francis Lapp for making this possible,” said Nadal through a statement.
