Roger Federer: 'I would like to play 2009 US Open final vs del Potro again'
Who would Roger Federer want a re-match with? The Swiss player replied: "Maybe del Potro in 2009 US Open final." The Swiss lost that championship clash against Juan Martin in five sets. The Basel native and Tandil native faced each other 25 times, with Federer prevailing in 18 of them.
What's toughest to overcome between mental and physical challenge? "Mental. It's just as hard to sometimes be picked up. It's not always easy to stay positive."
On the difference between footwork and strokes, Federer added: "Footwork is easier to perfect. I feel like strokes are maybe more talent involved."
On the difference between going through a mountain in the Swiss Alps and surviving Wimbledon, Federer concluded: "A bit different. Bear Grylls show I did freeze, and I peed over the frize. I did not do that here at Wimbledon, and Bear Grylls was sitting over there in the Royal Box with the Royals attending the finals and my team was sitting over there attending the final. Wonderful moment."
Meanwhile, Pablo Cuevas, who lost to Federer in straight sets both in 2015 Istanbul final and Rome second round, praised the Swiss: "I like a lot the variety he generates with the one-handed backhand, how he uses the slice, the flat, how he takes time away from you. For me, the most beautiful one is Stan Wawrinka's who handles the slice and all the rest very well, but I like his style and I think no one generates as much power as him," recognized the Concordia native.
Federer is going to play an exhibition in Mexico in November.
