Medvedev 'afraid' of playing in front of empty crowd on Saturday in Russia

Daniil Medvedev is enjoying big support so far in St. Petersburg during his two match wins against his compatriots Evgeny Donskoy and Andrey Rublev. However, things may change on Saturday when he meets Egor Gerasimov, as Russian soccer club FC Zenit plays a home match. Speaking in a press conference, the world No. 4 said: "Many people have been here and that's nice. I ask myself how it will be in the semifinals. There is a Zenit match. I am afraid that if everyone go watch them, crowds will be empty. We will see how it will be, it's interesting."

Gerasimov said: "Daniil plays excellent tennis. You can see that looking at his rankings position and his matches too. I remember our last match in Moscow. He goes for all the shots, he is fully focused."

Borna Coric defeated Casper Ruud:  "I didn't start very well", admitted the Croat. "I thought he was playing much better than me," Coric said. "But then I started to play much better, also much more aggressive, and I think in the end, that paid off."

Joao Sousa defeated Mikhail Kukushkin. "Today was another great day for me. I was able to play good tennis. I'm working very well with my slice. I was able to connect and to be comfortable with this shot," said the Portuguese.
