Bethanie Mattek-Sands tells USTA she is happy to accept a wild card for the US Open
Tennis - Former World no. 30 in singles Bethanie Mattek-Sands took to social media to tell the United States Tennis Association that she would be happy to accept a wild card for the US Open.

Ann Li & Priscilla Hon have moved into the main draw & Hailey Baptiste will receive a wild card."
The American reposted the same on her Twitter account, saying, "@usta @usopen I’m still here competing/playing well and happy to accept one of those wild cards you keep giving out! #GameSetMattek #TennisUNITED"
On the women's side, the other wild cards have been given to former World No. 1 and former US Open winner Kim Clijsters, Usue Arconada, CiCi Bellis, Sachia Vickery, Caroline Dolehide, Robin Montgomery and Whitney Osuigwe.
While she is ranked No. 358 in the world in singles, the American is ranked No. 20 in the world in singles. Her best performances in singles have been reaching the fourth round of the French Open in 2013 and Wimbledon in 2008 as well as the third round of the Australian Open and the US Open in 2015.
The US Open Grand Slam event is scheduled to begin in New York at the end of August.

Her resume is much better in doubles, with nine Grand Slam titles, five in women's doubles and four in mixed doubles. Her 26 WTA Tour titles include the 2015 Australian Open, 2015 French Open, 2016 US Open, 2017 Australian Open and 2017 French Open, with Czech partner Lucie Šafářová. In mixed doubles, she won the 2012 Australian Open, the 2015 French Open and a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Mattek-Sands suffered a major knee injury in 2017 that required surgery and she was away from the tour for more than a year. She returned and won the 2018 and 2019 US Open mixed doubles titles, both with partner Jamie Murray, upon her return.
Known for her hard-hitting game and spunky style, Bethanie Mattek-Sands is one of the most popular players on the women's circuit among the fans and her peers. She is also a former World No. 1 in doubles.
