Maria Sharapova announces long-term partnership with Therabody
Retired tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has announced her latest business collaboration - a long-term partnership with Therabody, a global tech wellness company which was earlier known as Theragun.
The Russian, a former World No. 1 and winner of five Grand Slam singles titles, has taken up several business ventures in recent years and her partnership with Therabody is the latest one.

33 year old Sharapova tells Forbes that besides investing the company that she wants to also help the company in its growth strategy going forward. "What excites me most about joining the Therabody team is the opportunity, not just from an investment standpoint, but to really roll up my sleeves and help inform the company's growth strategy and the path forward."
The Russian already has her own candy business Sugarpova and has also invested in other companies in recent times such as Supergoop!, the UFC, and Bala Bangles.
Theragun was created in 2008 and officially launched in 2016 by chiropractor Dr. Jason Wersland after he suffered a major injury himself. It is a percussive massage therapy device used by professional sports teams, professional athletes, celebrities, trainers, physical therapists, and others. In 2020, Theragun was rebranded to Therabody.
Maria Sharapova has been ranked world No. 1 in singles for a total of 21 weeks. She is one of ten women, and the only Russian, to hold the career Grand Slam, and has won each of the four Slams at least once in her career. She also won the silver medal in women's singles at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The Russian announced her retirement from the sport in January this year after the Australian Open where she lost in the first round to Croatia's Donna Vekic. During her professional career, she has won 36 WTA titles in all, including the year ending WTA Finals in 2004, as well as three doubles titles. According to Forbes, Sharapova was also named the highest paid female athlete in the world for 11 consecutive years. The Russian recently appeared on the show Shark Tank as a guest Shark.
