Mouratoglou on overcoming economic challenges of the current crisis at his academy
Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach of tennis legend Serena Williams, says he is fortunate that his academy has been able to survive the current pandemic and that he is proud of the work that his team has done.

Speaking to the Tennis365 website, Mouratoglou says the current crisis has been difficult for everyone, including his own academy. "It has been a difficult period for everybody. I don’t know anyone, other than Amazon, who have come away happy with this situation from an economical perspective. We are lucky that our Academy is financially very solid otherwise this could have been the end of our business. I am really proud of my team because we anticipated what could happy and we adapted to that."
Mouratoglou says that he hopes that his academy could become a tourist attraction once people have more confidence to be able to get out. "What we hope is the public have the confidence to come and visit because this is a special place. We are in one of the best spots in Europe. We are on the French Riviera and it is a great place for families to go. They can have their tennis camp and we have a hotel on site for everything to be together when they come off the court."
The 50 year old Patrick Mouratoglou started his tennis academy in 1996 and has worked with several players including Marcos Baghdatis, Julia Vakulenko, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Aravane Rezaï, Jérémy Chardy, Laura Robson, Yanina Wickmayer and Grigor Dimitrov. Mouratoglou has been coaching Serena Williams since 2012 and during the time they have worked together, Williams has won three Wimbledon titles, the Olympic gold medal, three US Open titles, two French Open titles, and two Australian Open titles as well as returning to the World No. 1 ranking. Serena is still ranked in the Top 10 in the world and is aiming to win her 24th Grand Slam title and equal the record held by Margaret Court.
