Rafael Nadal:I've been able to have to think about how we can build the world we want

19 time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, of Spain, is among those featured in a new documentary being made in Spain on the current lockdown caused by the global pandemic and the revival of the country.

Spain was among the first countries that were very badly affected by the current pandemic in Europe and although things are much better now compared to previous months, things are still far from normal. A documentary called ‘Go Spain’ is being made to highlight the country's post-COVID revival by Spanish TV personalities - Cristina Castano, Teresa Riott and Sergio Guzman. The aim of the documentary is to revive the tourism industry in Spain. Nadal and his academy are also featured in the documentary.

According to the ABC.es website, Nadal says the confinement also took a toll on him but he is trying to look at the positive side. "Like everyone else, confinement has taken its toll on me, but I have also taken a positive side from it: the time I have been able to have to think about how we can do things better and how we can build the world we want."

The 12-time Roland Garros champion also spoke about his experience at the academy and how he wants to help other children fulfil their dreams through his academy, "I have been young and I know how difficult it was for my parents to help me try to fulfil my dream. In the end it was school on the one hand, training on the other, tournaments on the other side, which was a lot of things and very complicated and it took a lot of time."

The Spaniard has begun training at his academy once again in recent weeks with an eye at a record 13th French Open title later this year, which he still remains the favourite. The Spaniard has withdrawn from the US Open Grand Slam event in New York saying that he would not like to travel at this point to the United States given the current situation there. 

Nadal has won 19 Grand Slam titles - and is one slam title from equaling the record held by Roger Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles so far. Federer will also not play the US Open and has said he will not play again this year due to a knee injury.
