'Roger Federer’s service is unique and inimitable', says former player
Roger Federer has been a source of inspiration for many promises of world tennis, both men and women. The 20-time Grand Slam champion took time to achieve success, but he became the protagonist of a legendary career that makes him one of the symbols of the modern era. In a recent interview with Ubitennis, Lorenzo Musetti's former technical manager Gianluca Naso compared the teenager's game with that of Roger Federer. Naso also talked at length about Federer's serve, and how efficient it is.
Naso on Roger Federer“I don’t want (to compare) but Roger Federer comes to mind obviously,” Gianluca Naso said. “Roger Federer’s service is unique and inimitable. The ease of being able to change pace within a single point, knowing how to play on other surfaces, knowing how to use the back, he also likes to come forward,” Naso stated. “Like Federer he has the ease with which he manages to hit the ball, especially from the right side it reminds you a little of the Swiss,” he added. “The fact that he is also sponsored by Nike and maybe the long hair that Federer once had is beautiful!” Naso concluded. Champion of the Australian Open junior in 2019, Lorenzo Musetti abandoned the junior activity after Roland Garros of the same year and moved definitively among the greats, immediately proving to be made of an interesting dough. A fourth and a semi-final at challenger level, the last qualifying round reached at the Australian Open this year and the very dignified debut in the major circuit in Dubai, against Rublev, won starting from the qualifiers. The tour’s calendar has greatly been affected and the cancellation of several tournaments has been rampant. Despite the threat of COVID-19, the United States Tennis Association confirmed that the US Open would still push through by the end of August. This however comes with unique implications. For instance, the reigning champion Rafael Nadal will not be suiting up to defend his title as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus. The playing environment has changed as the health and safety of everyone has turned into the priority of the players. This unprecedented time has caused several unexpected events such as Nadal pulling out of a Grand Slam tournament. The King of Clay is already at 19 Majors won and is a championship away from tying Roger Federer at 20. But this pandemic changed everything and introduced the challenge for these professional players to make the most out of their time.
