Ashleigh Barty wishes all the best to an 'incredible champion' Andy Murray

World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty dropped a notable praise on Andy Murray, insisting the three-time Grand Slam champion is an "incredible champion."

Murray, now ranked at No. 114 in the world, has been through a lot since picking up a hip injury in 2017.

Since then, Murray has had two major hip surgeries but he has refused to quit and walk away from the sport.

Murray's best days are behind him but Barty respects him and his effort.

“Andy Murray is an incredible champion. I think of the adversity he went through in his career, how he fought for us WTA players . His mother raised an amazing man. I hope he can hold on, be healthy and win a few more big matches," Barty said of Murray, per We Love Tennis.

Barty well-known for her humble side

After dominating Jil Teichmann in the Cincinnati Masters final, Barty encouraged the Swiss to keep working hard and told her that she deserves to play on the biggest stage.

"To Jil, what a week, mate. This is your level, this is where you belong," Barty said, per WTA Insider.

Barty has had a great year so far as she has made six finals.

Barty has been effective in those six finals played as she has captured five titles in 2021.

En route to winning Cincinnati, Barty beat Angelique Kerbert.

After the match, Kerber tried to explain what makes Barty so dominant.

"You know, I think she has so much confidence right now. She plays so well, and she served good. I think this is also a big weapon from her," Kerber explained.

"You know, she's just playing really like tricky, as well. She know where to put the ball and how to play in the moments where it's really important.

"So I think the whole game of hers is really tough, and, you know, that's why she's there where she is."
