Nick Kyrgios pulls out of Andy Murray clash at last moment due to injury

Just minutes before the start of his first round match at the Winston-Salem Open, six-time ATP champion Nick Kyrgios pulled out of the tournament due to a left knee injury and the much-anticipated match between the Australian and Andy Murray won't happen. 

Kyrgios, a former world No. 13, had been expected to make his debut in Winston-Salem this year. 

Kyrgios drew good friend and three-time ATP champion Murray in the first round. 

The match between Kyrgios and Murray had been expected to highlight first round action in Winston-Salem. 

Unfortunately, Kyrgios was not able to get out on the court and he will be replaced by a lucky loser. 

Kyrgios last played at the Toronto Masters 

Kyrgios ended up losing to Reilly Opelka in the Toronto first round but the match didn't go without controversy. 

Opelka appeared to touch the net in key moments of second set tie-break but chair umpire remained silent -- the American ended up winning the tie-break and the third set to complete a comeback win against the Australian.

"What are you watching? I saw his foot touch the net and you're not going to call it," Kyrgios said to the umpire.

"What else could you be watching, bro? I can see his foot touch the net from where I am, and you don't call anything. It's a joke, bro. It cost me the f---ing set. Bulls---."

Recently, Kyrgios admitted that he feels weird about where he is at with his career. 

"Honestly, I don't miss it so much anymore," Kyrgios said, when asked did he miss the Tour. "It's good to be back, of course, especially in these tournaments where I'm so comfortable and there are a lot of people, hopefully everything goes well. Instead, the situation is still crazy, every time I play a tournament I feel those vibes that tell me that this could be the last time I am here. In Atlanta I felt the same. It's like I don't know where I am, I feel weird, I feel weird about my career right now. Seeing the fans again is the best part of being back, seeing all their support."
