Jim Courier picks Roger Federer's best career-title ever

Jim Courier had no doubts when he was asked what has been the biggest title of Roger Federer's career out of the 99 he has won. After triumphing in Basel, the Swiss failed to win his 100th title in Paris and London. But he will continue his seek his 100th title next year.

For Courier, 2017 Australian Open is the biggest Federer's title. In that tournament the world no. 3 defeated four top ten players. Speaking to former Federer's coach Paul Annacone on Tennis Channel, Courier said: 'You are a big part of that process because one of the things that you brought into his game that showed up later is the bigger racket. And so Federer 2.0 shows up after six months off tour in 2017 in Australia. We don't know what we are going to get since he has not played since Wimbledon. All of sudden he has a new and improved backhand because he is a big sweet spot and he comes from 3-1 down in the fifth set against Rafael Nadal in the finals of a big tournament to win a Major. That for me was astonishing to see a player of his caliber, his magnitude and age make a change that drastic and see it paying off for him.'

This year Federer ended with a 48-10 match win/loss record. At the ATP Finals in London he lost two matches, against Kei Nishikori in the round robin stage and Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. The German would eventually go on to win his biggest career title so far.
