Facing Roger Federer in Melbourne one of my top highlights: Fucsovics
Marton Fucsovics is very satisfied with his 2018 season in which he won 25 matches out of 49 and in which, he reached the second week (fourth round) at a Major for the first time in his career, at the Australian Open losing to Roger Federer. Fucsovics included that result in Melbourne in his three-best performances of the year. 'It was special to face Federer on the Rod Laver Arena,' said Fucsovics. 'The match against Novak Djokovic at the US Open where he prevailed thanks to his physical strength, he was in a big physical shape, so he can handle the longer matches better competing almost at the same level. And the third one is obviously my first ATP title in Geneva. Now I am feeling a little of pressure, but I am also confident. The best players now know my name.'
Commenting on possibly playing alongside his compatriot Timea Babos at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Fucsovics added: 'I have never played mixed doubles, so I am sure that Timea and I want to play a Grand Slam together. The Olympics qualies will start in the summer and it would be big to win a medal in Tokyo Olympics.'
'We overcame all our expectations. The goal does not change, staying in the top-50,' said Sávolt Attila, Fucsovics's coach. 'For Marcus there will be some weaker and more successful good years, and we do not think about the top 20.'
