ATP Delray Beach - Entry List: Del Potro, Anderson and Raonic are favorites

The 27th edition of the ATP 250 Delray Beach will take place between February 18-24 at the Delray Beach Tennis Center, moving there from Coral Springs in 1999. Four former champions will fight for the title and it is Juan Martin del Potro who leads the field, asking for a wild card and making a return after a nasty knee injury that ruled him out from the Australian Open. The champion here in 2011, del Potro was beaten in the second round by an eventual winner Frances Tiafoe last year and he will use this event to shape up his form against before the upcoming Masters 1000 tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami.

2012 winner Kevin Anderson returns to Delray Beach for the ninth consecutive years, hoping for a better run than 12 months ago when del Potro took him down in straight sets. After reaching the final in 2014, Kevin has won just one match in Delray Beach and he will do his best to change his fortune and fight for the title, especially after an early exit in Melbourne. Milos Raonic scored four great wins in Melbourne before falling to Lucas Pouille in the battle for the semi-final, returning into the top-15 and seeking more big results in the following months. The Canadian will compete here for the third straight year, giving Jack Sock a walkover in 2017 final before losing to Steve Johnson in the second round last year.

Juan Martin, Kevin and Milos are the top favorites for the title and also the only players from the top-30 who opted to play in Delray Beach, with Steve Johnson, Andreas Seppi and the defending champion Frances Tiafoe leading the lower-ranked seeds. The defending champion Tiafoe claimed his first ATP title here a year ago and he should be in contention again after a great run in Melbourne where he advanced into his first Grand Slam quarter-final. Taylor Fritz, Nick Kyrgios, Feliciano Lopez, Ivo Karlovic, Bernard Tomic, Reilly Opelka and Jack Sock should be in the draw as well, searching for their place under the sun and potential upsets that will open the door for the title for some of them.
