Naomi Osaka reminds me of Serena Williams, says Mats Wilander
Mats Wilander believes that there are some similarities between the two American players Serena Williams and Danielle Collins and Osaka and Serena. Collins defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to reach the Australian Open semifinals and book a clash against Petra Kvitova. Speaking on Eurosport, Wilander said: 'I know she has made more prize money in this tournament than she has ever made before in her career. She never gives up, she has a great attitude, she moves really well, she has a very good first serve, she hits forehand extremely well and she is a tough, tough competitor, she is physically intimidating. I do not think she will make this chance go away. You play against Serena Williams and Steffi Graf, these girls do not ever go away. Collins never goes away, she is on you, she does not let you breath and that's a great champion. Collins is an up and coming player on the women's side like Stefanos Tsitsipas is on the men's.'
Wilander compared Osaka to Williams as well: 'She is playing better than at the US Open', the Swede said on the world No. 4. 'She has more confidence at this stage in the tournament. She is serving and hitting big I like her attitude, she is very calm. If she wins the tournament she would become the number one in the world. Her confidence is so high and with her style of play, with her consistency on her serve, her ball-striking, she has a killer instinct. She reminds me of Serena Williams. She is quiet, that's her personality and it helps you when you play tennis.'
