Robin Haase joins Stefanos Tsitsipas at home in s-Hertogenbosch

After signing the Australian Open semi-finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, the organizers of the Libema Open in s-Hertogenbosch have announced that the Dutch no. 1 Robin Haase will play at home ATP 250 event for the 12th time in the last 14 years. Robin made his debut in s-Hertogenbosch at the age of 19 in 2006, losing to Juan Carlos Ferrero in three sets and struggling to make a name for himself in the next six editions as well, winning just three matches overall. That all changed in 2015 when Haase defeated Blaz Kavcic, Fernando Verdasco and Ivo Karlovic in the deciding tie break to reach the semi-final where he won the opening set before losing to Nicolas Mahut in the match with just three breaks of serve.

Gilles Muller and Daniil Medvedev took him down in the opening round in 2016 and 2017, with Bernard Tomic who stopped him in the last 16 in the previous season to keep Robin on seven wins at home ATP event. The 31-year-old will try to improve his tally between June 10-16 in what should be his best preparation for the upcoming Wimbledon where he reached the third round back in 2011. The Libema Open has been in the ATP calendar since the start of the ATP Tour in 1990 and some big names like Michael Stich, Richard Krajicek, Patrick Rafter (three in a row), Lleyton Hewitt, Michael Llodra, Mario Ancic, Ivan Ljubicic, David Ferrer, Nicolas Mahut and Richard Gasquet.

The tournament is held in the same week as Stuttgart, that usually gathers much stronger field, but the organizers will try to get Ivo Karlovic, Richard Gasquet and some other players who are the regular guests at Libema Open, giving the crowd a chance to watch some excellent grass-court tennis just like in the past three decades.
