Barcelona Open to hand tribute to David Ferrer on Rafa Nadal Court

The Barcelona Open will pay a tribute to David Ferrer, a four-time tournament finalist, over the next edition that will take place from 22 to 28 April. In the event, Ferrer made 14 appearances, including the first one in 2003, and he always performed giving his best in front of his crowd.

Ferrer's farewell tour started in Auckland, where he hurt his leg and will continue in Buenos Aires, where he is set to play his opening match on Tuesday, then Acapulco, Barcelona and Madrid. Ferrer, a former world No. 3 and a 27-time ATP title champion, will attend a farewell ceremony in his honour on Sunday 28 April just before the men's singles final on the Rafa Nadal Court.

Through Twitter the Japanese player Taro Daniel praised Ferrer: "I had practice with Ferrer yesterday.
