Benoit Paire: People will stop booing me if I win big tournament

French tennis star Benoit Paire couldn't understand why did the French crowd boo him at the Open Sud de France and Open 13 Provence.

Paire, 29, made the round-of-16 at this week's Open 13 Provence in Marseille.

The Frenchman beat Italy's Simone Bolelli in the first round before he lost to Belgian tennis star David Goffin in his following match.

Goffin, a former world No. 7, saw off world No. 59 Paire easily 6-2 6-3.

The two players were tied at 2-2 after the opening four games but then the Belgian broke the Frenchman twice to claim the opener.

Paire appeared to have regrouped at the beginning of the second set as took an early 3-1 lead.

However, his lead was short-lived as Goffin quickly turned the things around as he won five games around to seal the win.

A two weeks ago, Paire also received boos at the Open Sud de France in Montpellier.

Back then, the Frenchman lost to three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in the first round 7-6 (4) 6-1.

Interestingly, Paire believes fans will stop booing him if he wins a big tournament.

Paire, 29, has won only one ATP title so far in his career.

The Frenchman's lone ATP title came at the Swedish Open in 2015.

Back then, Paire beat Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas to win it all at the Swedish ATP 250 event in Bastad.
