Confident John Isner: I'm going to build on my results from 2018
American tennis star John Isner is motivated to achieve another great season.
The 33-year-old hasn't made a great start to the year but is hoping to get his season going at the New York Open.
The American has yet to win a match this season, having lost his openers at the ASB Classic and Australian Open.
Isner, ranked at No. 9 in the world, is coming off a career-best season.
The American claimed his maiden Masters 1000 title last year at the Miami Masters, before he won his fifth title at the BB&T Atlanta Open.
The 33-year-old also made his maiden Grand Slam semi-final at Wimbledon, debuted at the Nitto ATP Finals and achieved his career-high ranking of No. 8 in the world last year.
Isner, seeded at No. 1, has a first round bye in New York.
He awaits in the round-of-16 the winner of the match between Bernard Tomic and Lukas Lacko.
Isner failed to impress at the inaugural edition of the New York Open as he was beaten by Radu Albot in the round-of-16 at the tournament a year ago.
"I'm as healthy as I've ever been..:and I'm going to build on my results from 2018," Isner said, per Tennis Atlantic Twitter.
The big-serving American became a father last September, when his wife gave a birth to a baby girl.
"That's the most fulfilling thing I've ever experienced...Greatest thing that’s ever happened to me or my wife," Isner said of parenthood.
