Dan Evans speaks on support he has received over past 18 months

British tennis player Dan Evans says there are people who supported him during the darkest period of his career and there are people who are now reaching out to him once his career appears to be on the rise again.

The 28-year-old received a one-year ban for testing positive for cocaine at the Barcelona Open in April in 2017.

The Briton appeared to be set for a breakthrough campaign two years ago as he reached his maiden ATP final in Sydney and achieved his career-high ranking of No. 41 in the world shortly after but then a big mistake stopped his rise.

Now, almost one year after returning to competitive tennis, Evans is making strides at the ATP level as he has made the Delray Beach Open semi-final as a qualifier.

World No. 148 Evans beat Italian Andreas Seppi in straight sets on Friday 6-4 6-4 to set up a semi-final meeting against the winner of the match between John Isner and Adrian Mannarino.

"There are the ones who spoke to me every day when I was on the sofa and there are the ones who speak to me now who wasn't speaking to me when I was on the sofa, listen that's life isn't it," Evans said after beating Seppi, per John Horn.

Evans is expected to return to at least the top-120 on Monday, while he could make a comeback to the top-100 if he wins it all in Delray Beach.

It remains to be seen can Evans continue great form in Delray Beach and claim his maiden ATP title this week.
