I met Djokovic but not Federer unfortunately, says Aus Open junior winner
In an interview, 16-year-old Lorenzo Musetti commented on his Australian Open junior title. Asked about what he particularly remembered looking back at his unbelievable run in Melbourne, Musetti said: "The feelings immediately after the match, the excitement and even some joyful tears. And then the congratulations from Ivan Lendl and Novak Djokovic, an honor for me. It does not happen every day. Unfortunately, I did not meet my idol, Federer."
Musetti worked hard to get to this level: "This result did not come by chance. I was hoping it would happen, but we also exceeded expectations. It's the consequence of the work we did with the Federation and my coach."
On his off-court life, Musetti added: "I do not have a lot of free time. I like listening to music, especially American rap. I do languages school and when I am on the road, I study online. But in my mind there is just tennis, I have not thoughts that distract me from the goal: I want to go as far as possible."
Speaking about his goals, Musetti mentioned, "My dream is to win a Grand Slam, Wimbledon is my favorite but I am okay with winning any other. If I crack the top ten, I would love to become world No. 1 as well. It's a dream and in the end if you have to dream, it's better to dream great. I would also love to play the Davis Cup and win the Rome Open which is like a Grand Slam for an Italian, but I just want to stay grounded."
