Kevin Anderson, Lucas Pouille withdraw from Acapulco
World No. 5 Kevin Anderson and French tennis star Lucas Pouille have both withdrawn from the upcoming Abierto Mexicano Telcel.
Anderson, 32, has played at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco three times so far in his career.
The South-African finished runner-up in his Acapulco debut five years ago, before he made the semi-final a year later.
The 32-year-old returned to Acapulco last year -- when he once again fell just short of winning it all -- as he was beaten in the final by Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro.
Anderson hasn't played since suffering a surprise Australian Open second-round loss to American Frances Tiafoe.
The South-African has now picked up his third tournament withdrawal as he also pulled out of the New York Open and Delray Beach due to a right elbow issue.
Anderson will be replaced in Acapulco by German Mischa Zverev, who is now set to make his third consecutive Acapulco main draw appearance.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Pouille won't be making his Acapulco debut next week.
A virus also prevented Pouille from playing at last week's ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament.
However, Australian Open semi-finalist Pouille hopes to be ready for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, which is due to kick off on March 07.
"I won't be able to compete at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel, very sorry. Takes longer than thought to get over that virus, so I can't take the risk. I was looking forward to playing in Acapulco, I'm very disappointed but I hope to go there in the future. I'll work on being ready for (the) BNP Paribas Open," Pouille said on Twitter.
