Marc Rosset: 'We should not judge Roger Federer after just a week'

In a column for Le Temps, the former world No. 9 Marc Rosset said fans should not be panicking about Roger Federer's loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open. Rosset wrote: "We should watch how the rest of the season goes, and judge after six months, not a week. Credit to the winner. This Federer's loss is first of all Tsitsipas's win. This young player already had good results, but this match is clearly his biggest achievement in his promising career. He was really big, with his attitude during the entire match. His plan was to attack Federer as most as possible, to take the ball early, to go to the net. He did it very well, without thinking too much, going forward on a consistent basis for four sets. He was undoubtedly encouraged by the 12 break points saved. It was often said that Dimitrov is a "Baby Federer", I find that Tsitsipas, without putting into the similarities matter too much, is very similar to Federer for his character and charism."

"Like often, the Australian Open is very interesting. The surface is fast, you do not get bored and there are still rallies, it's a tournament where you often get upsets. Even Cilic, a last year's finalist, lost. Younger players come up: (Frances) Tiafoe, (Borna) Coric, (Stefanos) Tsitsipas, (Alexander) Zverev.
