Nadal will be the man to beat at the French Open - Former Djokovic's coach

In an interview to Blic Nikola Pilic, who was Novak Djokovic's coach when the Serb was just a young promising player, commented on the recent Australian Open success gotten by the 31-year-old over Rafael Nadal. "I would never expect Novak to be so good. I knew Novak was stronger than Rafa and I was sure he would have beaten him, but not like this. Do not forget that Nadal did not drop off any set in the tournament and that Nole was a little bit tired. But in the finals, Novak completely took him over. He deserved to win.'

On Nadal, Pilic added: 'He will be the toughest to beat in Paris. He was the best in history on clay, he won the French Open 11 times. I think Novak can win the title again in that Grand Slam, but he will have to give himself his best chances. He did it once, why not again? However, Nadal will be his biggest threat.'

'He is absolutely in his best position against all the rivals! And when he was in bad times dealing with an elbow injury and somebody criticized him saying that he would have never been back to his beat, I always said that he did not forget how to play. He guaranteed the first ranking position until Wimbledon, he will not have too many points to defend in Indian Wells and Miami. He can only make signs of progress. And after the Grand Slam in London, we will see how the situation will be. Novak can end his career with the biggest amount of Grand Slam trophies, but he needs to be healthy. There are no limits for him. I think he can reach the 17,000 points unit. He showed to be the best in the world.'
