Naomi Osaka walks by street in Japan in wigs and sunglasses - Courier

The former world No. 1 Jim Courier suggested that living in the United States is a great way to have success in the future for Naomi Osaka. The 20-year-old is incredibly popular in Japan and she can barely walk by the streets there. “She’s described going out in wigs and sunglasses, because otherwise she can’t just go outside and enjoy Japan the way anyone can", said Courier on Channel 9.

On the pressure Osaka gets, the fellow commentator Sam Smith added: “They were already talking last year about her being the face of 2020. Can you imagine, with how young she is? The pressure she faced in New York, in this final, will be nothing compared to what she’s going to go through in just (about) a year-and-a-half’s time. If anyone can handle it, she can. We’re going to have our first Japanese winner in the Walk of Champions (at Melbourne Park), so that’s very special.”

Japan loves Osaka, as confirmed by the 28-year-old finance worker Satoshi Mizutani: "As a Japanese person, I'm very proud. She showed a lot of character in coming back after dropping the second set. I think she is an inspiration to young people in Japan who can learn to do whatever they want if they work hard for it."
