Novak Djokovic didn't appreciate playing in Federer, Nadal era - Annacone

Paul Annacone believes that for Novak Djokovic, accepting to have played in the same era as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal was not probably easy. The Serb was almost always under a shadow until 2010 included, as the Swiss and the Spaniard dominated the Tour. According to Annacone, Federer and Nadal have a different relationship than the one they have with Djokovic because they have been close each other for a longer time.

The Sky Sport Italy commentator Claudio Mezzadri said during last year's Swiss Indoors in Basel Federer confessed to him that he never really understood Djokovic in depth, citing some things happened at the Laver Cup in Chicago. Speaking to Tennis World USA, Annacone said Federer and Djokovic have a normal relationship. 'The time I was working with Roger there were no problems', Annacone confirmed. 'They were telling each other "How are you?" in the locker room, they talked about things so it seemed fine to me but I don't know any other details. I think Roger and Rafa have spent a lot more time together. And the difficult thing with Novak is that he came up in an era that featured two of the greatest players that have ever played. Because of Rafa and Roger, this is a very difficult era for Novak. As a tennis player, I don't think he has fully appreciated it. Instead, Roger has appreciated it because he comes from a different time.'
