Serena Williams: 'At 8 years old I was a terrible loser'
In an interview during last month's Australian Open Serena Williams recalled a match she lost to her sister Venus. At the time, the 23-time Major winner was a "terrible loser". "It was my first match, when I was like 8, and I played Venus, and I lost. It was the final, and she gave me her first place because I was a terrible loser. And she was like, 'Serena, I want you to win,' so she gave me her trophy, and that's the only one I really keep", admitted the former world No. 1.
Asked where she keeps her trophies, Serena replied: "You know, that's the biggest question. I'm trying to gather them. I don't know! I know my coach has a few."
Her husband Alexis Ohanian added: "It's bad. But I mean, I'm trying to get them all together in one spot eventually. I've never been a hoarder!"
Serena also said she is satisfied with her comeback: "The big picture for me is always winning. I'm not going to sit here and lie about that. But it hasn't happened yet, but I feel like it's going to happen. Just keep taking it one match at a time, just keep soldiering on, I guess."
