Former Andy Murray's coach reveals Roger Federer's key to longevity

In an interview to TVP, the former Andy Murray and Marin Cilic's coach Jonas Bjorkman praised Roger Federer's ability to play at the highest level at 37 years of age. "Roger is special", said Bjorkman. "No one can play so well, putting so less energy in the same time. His shots are clean, natural and that's for me the secret to his longevity. It's imoossible to honestly reply for how much time he can still face the young generation, I think he does not even know it. But he enjoys the game and as long as he does, I am convinced he will not retire anytime soon. I had the chance to closely follow his training. He was often praised for his huge talent and you forget that he is an unbelievable professional that loves tennis in every minute of his life."

On Poland's big hope, Hubert Hurkacz, Bjorkman added: "He definitely plays well. At that age, you have to be hungry all the time, feel the desire to absolutely be the best. You can never be satisfied with what you achieved. The difference between a champion and a young, talented player is often about the mental preparation. High level players are more professionals, more focused on their career. It can look banal, but they give their best in every training session. They always want to improve." Bjorkman stepped up from tennis per now for a while.
