Indian Wells title is like a Grand Slam success for Thiem - Former player
The former Austrian top15 tennis player Judith Floimair-Wiesner praised Dominic Thiem's Indian Wells success. Speaking to Sn, Wiesner said: "This win is like a Grand Slam success. Because the intensity of Masters 1000 tournaments is higher than ever because of the field featuring all the best players. You cannot enter in the tournament slowly. I hope he can consistently keep his emotions. There are a lot of players who tend to suffer more illnesses related to the trip. That was like this for me, so in the end I stopped."
Can Thiem become a world No. 1? "I definitely trust him. Of course, it depends on a lot of factors and being lucky at the right moment. And on the shape and health of dominant players like Federer, Djokovic and Nadal."
Wiesner finally praised Thiem as a person: "Dominic is very likeable. I've rarely met such a well-behaved young man. As soon as I met him, he immediately recognized me and listed all my successes (laughs). He just lives tennis."
