Novak Djokovic had too many distractions in Miami win - Pundit

The former world no. 25 Filippo Volandri believes that Novak Djokovic's performance against Federico Delbonis at the Miami Open was not bad at all. The Serb was leading by a set and a break. "He showed that if he is really focused and plays on the baseline, he makes a difference. But he had too many distractions. He still needs to adapt to this new stadium," said the Italian.

On Fognini's loss to Roberto Bautista Agut, Volandri added: "Fabio was coming from a tough time where he was training well but he could not compete in a proper way. With a guy like Guido Andreozzi, you manage to go through, with Bautista Agut if you do not take chances - Fabio was leading 4-2 - you pay the price. Bautista Agut didn't take any risk, he understood that he would go through just being consistent. Fabio dominated for some time, but he needs to find consistency. Fabio trains in Miami in the winter time, now he comes back to Italy so he will spend time with his family."

On Nick Kyrgios's controversial match against Dusan Lajovic, Volandri concluded: "That's part of him. If he plays this way, he does not enjoy himself. Playing like this, he will not become the world no. 1. He can at least be a top ten player if he gets committed. He is not consistent at all but many people like him and I am okay with seeing a player him on Tour."
