Pundit draws comparisons between Auger-Aliassime and Federer, Nadal
The pundit Filippo Volandri believes there are some similarities between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer. Speaking on Sky Sport following the Canadian player's win over Borna Coric, Volandri said: "I saw him at the Como Challenger when he was 15 and looking at his body he looked like a 24-year-old! He has a fire inside. In the first set, over the last matches, he starts slowly but then he improves more and more. He is a mix between Federer and Nadal. He plays break points like Rafa and he delivers the same tactics as Roger. He is so good physically."
The fellow expert Flavia Pennetta added: "He handles everything surrounding him in a good way. Fabio Fognini played against him in Rio de Janeiro, nobody knew who Felix was. But the people who attend lower level events were aware that he could do something special. He earned 40 ranking positions in the last months."
On Novak Djokovic, she concluded: "He may not have a schedule as Federer or Nadal. Rafa is playing less hard-court tournaments in order to take a rest and save some energies. Novak is doing well and he has fewer injuries than Roger and Rafa."
