'Roger Federer, Sampras, then Nadal are the best players ever' - Geanta
In an interview to Gsp, the former player Ion Geanta picked the three best players of all time in his opinion. The Romanian said: "Roger Federer on the first place, then Pete Sampras and Rafael Nadal. Federer is a genius, he is smart and he plays tennis with a never seen easiness. It's like playing the violin. Nadal for his work ethic and energy, I rarely saw something similar. He and Thomas Muster worked enormously. I trained with Muster in Australia prior to the Australian Open. In every practice, the warm up was lasting an hour and a half."
Geanta also spoke about her relationship with Halep: "I have been watching Simona since when she was little. The first contact with Adidas came in Paris, she was 16 years old, playing junior event. I was working with Sorana Cirstea, who was Adidas, and I went speaking with them. I had some training session with her for a long time, Andrei Pavel had asked me to go with them and take care of her."
Asked how tennis evolved compared to the past, Geanta added: "It's a big difference, the fact that tennis became a business has a pretty big mark on how things are going, the people's mentality changed a lot. We played for funny and pleasure for having teached the highest level. Now pressure is high, it's a consistent fight between players and parents."
