Alexander Zverev: Roger Federer is funny in the locker room

In a press conference in Monte Carlo on Monday, Alexander Zverev commented on his relationship with Roger Federer. The Swiss often gives advice to the German. "I like to joke and not taking everything too seriously. Roger is a funny guy in the locker room too," said Zverev.

Asked about Andy Murray possibly retiring from tennis, Zverev replied: "Andy (has) not taken a decision on his future yet but if it (were) his last year on Tour, he would be missed by everyone. He is not just a real champion but a special person too."

On his next match against Auger-Aliassime, Zverev added: “He’s been one of the best young guys on Tour this year. He made the semis in Miami, made the final in Rio. I’m very happy for him because he’s one of the most humble and nicest guys that I know. He always walks around, even when he was younger, he’s still young but when he was just starting and the first few times that everybody saw him on the Tour he was always very polite and always very positive. For me, I’m not going to say I’m a fan of him, but I always kind of look after him because, first of all, he’s a great player, but also because he’s an unbelievably nice kid.”

The 21-year-old last played in Marrakech, where he lost to Jaume Munar in the pre-quarter-final.
