Roger Federer: 'I am a better player than when I won 2003 Wimbledon'
Roger Federer believes that he has made improvements since his maiden Grand Slam title win. The 37-year-old said: "I am a better player than when I won my first Wimbledon in 2003. I am more complete, more powerful, there are so many things going on."
Asked about the importance of an approach to a match, Federer replied: "There is never a guarantee for any match that you are gonna come out and play great. Sometimes you feel really bad going into a match and then you are playing a great match, sometimes you feel wonderful going into a match and then you realize it's not going to be your day. The feeling you have before a match is not like in school where you feel you are perfectly prepared for a written test. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, with us the opponent has quite a big say as well, what's going to happen on your side of the net"
Federer commented on his relationship with Rafael Nadal: "It's a bit strange but I am happy we get along well. I prefer that way than like you cannot stand each other. So we always chat to one another. With Rafa, we go back a long way, we do so much promotion for tournaments and media together."
