Serena Williams: I have thought of having more kids with my husband
Serena Williams does not want her daughter Olympia to be the only child in her life. The 23-time Grand Slam winner plans to keep competing at the highest level as long as possible, then she will have time to have more babies with her husband Alexis Ohanian. "I have apparently thought of having (more) kids, and it will happen in time, God willing," said Serena during the 2018 US Open. "After Olympia, then maybe I’ll do the subsequent two, God willing, close to each other. Right now it’s not time yet since I’m rational about playing tennis and enjoying this time with Olympia. And then hopefully I’ll have (an) abundance of time in the future to hopefully add to that."
Serena also defended women's rights in society. "Women are allowed to be happy, we’re allowed to be sad, we’re allowed to be angry, we’re allowed to be glad', said Serena. "What’s wrong with that? I find my inspirations through aspiration and aspirational people, so our collection right now is really about all aspiration. Art is my outlet. A couple of months ago, I was really upset about something, and that’s when I made my atoms."
Serena loves her daughter Olympia. "I love that when I walk into the room and she’s with her dad, she runs to me. It makes me feel really good. Which is sad. But I am a competitor at heart," said Serena, who got married to the Reddit co-founder in November 2017.
Serena also said that she is learning to code: "It’s really important to me, especially because my fashion business is all online. It’s never too late to start."
Serena is an entrepreneur too and has a fashion line. She stressed the importance of art: "I just feel like I’m really able to express myself through art. That’s why I have the clothes here, and I want women to be able to express themselves too. It doesn’t matter if they are front row in the middle of the U.S. Open or at their home talking to their husband — they should be able to have an opinion. And it shouldn’t be looked down upon in any way. I find that when I paint, it definitely brings me a lot of peace. I actually can think about things."
