Spending time with his son is a priority for Fabio Fognini - Pundit

The former world No. 25 Filippo Volandri feels confident about the Fabio Fognini's chances in Monte Carlo. Speaking on Sky Sport Volandri said: "Fabio seems calm again as he is with his family again. His son Federico became really important for him, as well as his wife Flavia. He has added a new coach too, Corrado Barazzutti. We will see how he will do here in Monte Carlo, he never felt comfortable playing at home but he reached the semifinals here in 2013."

On Novak Djokovic, Volandri added: "He is the world No. 1 but he did not win too many matches lately. He needs some matches to play."

On the Italian tennis, the Italian said: "We are working well! Having six top 100 players, 19 players on the top 200 overall is great. We are trying to have 20 players on the top 150."

On the Sunday results, he concluded: "Wawrinka played a great match. With these heavy balls, he can make a difference as he is very strong. Borna Coric struggled against Hubert Hurkacz, in the end, his experience prevailed."

Djokovic expects some tough competition prior to the French Open: “All of our games will be tested big-time – but that’s why we’re here. I’ve had some (successful) Roland Garros tournaments in the past where I didn’t win any of the big ones before. It would not affect my state of mind but it would serve my confidence better if I’d won one of them coming into Paris. It would be definitely better to approach Roland Garros with a win of one of the big three clay court events prior to French Open, but at the same time, I have had great Roland Garros tournaments in the past where I maybe didn’t win any of the big ones before. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to affect completely my state of mind approaching Roland Garros, but it would definitely serve the confidence better if I have won one coming into Paris."
