U21 Race to Milan: Tsitsipas and Auger-Aliassime lead action. Ruud advances

The updated U21 Race to Milan has seen no changes in the top positions, with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov still leading the action. After losing to Shapovalov in the fourth round of Miami, Tsitsipas returns in Monte Carlo on Wednesday, chasing new wins and increasing his tally that currently stands on 1460 points. Auger-Aliassime is the youngest player in the top-10 and another strong contender to secure Milan ticket in November, opening Monte Carlo run with a solid win over Juan Ignacio Londero for the 15th ATP win of the season.

Australian Open and Miami quarter-finalist Frances Tiafoe is taking a rest before Barcelona, accumulating 595 points so far, enough for the fourth place on the list ahead of Alex de Minaur who has been struggling with an injury, pulling out of Barcelona and staying on 485 points. The Aussie is still safe because the players behind him are not capable of delivering big results yet, all but Casper Ruud who played in the first ATP final on Sunday in Houston. The youngest U.S Clay Court Championship finalist since Andy Roddick in 2002 and the first Norwegian in an ATP title match since his father Christian in Bastad 1995, Casper scored four great wins to reach the final where he fell to Christian Garin in three sets, taking 150 points and moving ahead of Miomir Kecmanovic, Ugo Humbert and the rest of the field.

Kecmanovic fell to Elias Ymer in the qualifying round in Monte Carlo, together with Humbert who has struggled to find the form once the indoor season had concluded. Murcia Challenger finalist Mikael Ymer is the only new player in the top-10, passing Alexei Popyrin and Corentin Moutet and hoping to reach 200-point mark soon.
