French Open is great chance for struggling Lucas Pouille to lift his form
French tennis star Lucas Pouille has had a disappointing clay season so far but the French Open appears to be a good chance for him to put a good end to his clay campaign and lift his form ahead of the second part of the season.
After making a bad start to the clay season by losing his openers at the Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona respectively, the Frenchman's form appeared to be on the rise after making it all the way at the Bordeaux Challenger.
Yet, that wasn't the case as Pouille, after clinching a notable Madrid Masters first-round win over world No. 15 Borna Coric, was beaten by Hubert Hurkacz in the Madrid second round and Matteo Berrettini in the Rome Masters first round respectively.
However, the struggling world No. 25 Pouille could still make a good result on the clay of Roland Garros after receiving a favourable draw.
Should Pouille beat qualifier world No. 191 Simone Bolelli in his opener, he would meet either Mikhail Kukushkin or Martin Klizan in the second round, while the struggling No. 10 seed Karen Khachanov could be his third round opponent.
Despite struggling with his form, the 25-year-old Frenchman has a nice chance to reach the French Open round-of-16 for the first time in his career and probably set a huge clash against Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro.
It remains to be seen how far can former world No. 10 Pouille go in front of his home crowd at the French Open.
